Test TC-24B - Ignition Coil #2 Primary Circuit

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Ignition Control Module (ICM) connector. ICM is located outboard of coolant overflow tank. Using DRB in ohm-meter mode, check resistance of ICM connector, ignition coil No. 2 driver circuit (Dark Blue/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, connect a jumper wire between ICM connector, ignition coil No. 2 driver circuit (Dark Blue/Tan wire) and engine ground. Check resistance of Dark Blue/Tan wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Blue/Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Check resistance of PCM terminal No. 37, dwell gate signal circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ICM. Perform TEST VER-2.
