Test TC-1A - Checking System For Trouble Codes: Notes

NOTE: Battery must be fully charged before proceeding.
  1. Battery must be fully charged before proceeding. Attempt to start engine. If engine will not start, crank engine for at least 10 seconds. Connect scan tool to engine diagnostic connector. Record scan tool trouble codes.
  2. If scan tool has a blank screen or displays an error message, this indicates a scan tool failure. To diagnose and correct these conditions, see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in TESTS W/CODES - BODY CONTROL COMPUTER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  3. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST NS-6A. If trouble codes are displayed, see TROUBLE CODES table. If no trouble codes are displayed and a driveability problem is present, go to TEST NTC-1A. If no trouble codes are displayed and a no-start problem is present, go to TEST NS-1A.

(1) Check cooling system if engine temperature does not reach 176°F (80°C) after driving 20 minutes. This code may set in error during very cold slow speed driving.
(2) Replace PCM and perform TEST VER-2.
