WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Ford Transit-350 HD, 2024 Ford Transit-350, 2024 Ford Transit-250, and 2024 Ford Transit-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Refer to Transmission Controls - 10R80 for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The transmission control system is an integrated part of the PCM. If the PCM supply voltage drops below or rises above operating voltage, the transmission control system may not operate properly.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P0702:00 Transmission Control System Electrical: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the PCM detected a supply voltage either above or below threshold.
PCM P0882:00 TCM Power Input Signal Low: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the PCM detected a supply voltage of less than 9 volts.
PCM P0883:00 TCM Power Input Signal High: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the PCM detected a supply voltage of greater than 21 volts.

    Possible Causes

    • Low voltage to the PCM
    • Low battery condition
    • Charging system concern
    • Connectors damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals

  2. J1 CHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests.

Are any system voltage diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?

Yes  RESOLVE those diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the Appropriate DTC Chart
    No  GO to  J2
  3. J2 CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE

Did the battery pass the condition test?

    Yes  GO to  J3
No  INSTALL a new battery. REFER to: Battery - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries . REFER to: Battery - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
  4. J3 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all PCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

    • Turn off all interior lights, exterior lights and accessories.

    • NOTE: Do not allow the engine speed to increase above 2, 000 RPM while performing this step or the generator may self-excite and result in default charging system output voltage. If engine speed goes above 2, 000 RPM, turn the engine off and restart the engine before performing this step.

Start and run the engine at approximately 1, 500 RPM for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.

Does the battery voltage stay between 13 and 15.2 volts?

    Yes  GO to  J4
No  DIAGNOSE the charging system concern. REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) .
  5. J4 RECHECK FOR THE VOLTAGE FAULT DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) IN THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE)

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect all PCM connectors.

    • Using a good light source, inspect all  disconnected electrical connectors for the following:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
      • spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary

    • Reconnect all PCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch properly

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the PCM.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests.

    Is DTC P0702, P0882, and/or P0883 still present?

    Yes

After programming the new PCM, CARRY OUT the transmission strategy download.Update the PCM Calibration. CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB (General service bulletin), SSM (Special service message) or FSA (Field service action). If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern,
INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM).only available in the on-line service information RVC:
Generate RVC only works in single-step view Generate RVC requires VIN entry  REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) .
No  If the PCM does not communicate with the scan tool, REFER to: Communications Network - System Operation and Component Description
Otherwise, the system is operating properly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery condition or while jump starting the vehicle.
