Battery Cables - Electric Motor (C0): Removal

NOTE: This procedure provides information about routing, retaining points and connectors of the cable. It does not include the steps for removing components to gain access to the cable(s).
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - 3.5L Duratec (202kW/275PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the battery/batteries. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Single Battery . Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
  3. Remove the front driver seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
  4. Release the clips and remove the lower steering column opening trim panel.

  5. Press the stop tabs inward and fully lower the glove compartment.

  6. Release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  8. Remove the screws, release the clips, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the lower instrument panel trim panel.Install the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  9. Remove the covers, screws and the lower center console trim panel.

  10. Remove the bolts and the support bracket.

    Torque

    : 18 Nm

  11. Remove the weatherstrip.

  12. Remove the caps and the retainers.

  13. Release the trim pins and remove the driver door step.

  14. Remove the retainers and position the floor carpet aside to get access to the battery cables.

    Negative battery cable - Dual batteries 

    1. Torque

      : 8 Nm

    2. Torque

      : 22 Nm

    Negative battery cable - Single battery

    Positive battery cable - Dual batteries 

    NOTE: The high current BJB is serviced as an assembly with the main body harness and is not serviced separately.
