Battery Cables - 3.5L Duratec (202kW 275PS) 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW 320PS): Removal

NOTE:
This procedure provides information about routing, retaining points and connectors of the cable. It does not include the steps for removing components to gain access to the cable(s).
NOTE:
3.5L EcoBoost engine shown, 3.5L Duratec engine similar.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Electric Motor (C0) - Overview .
- Disconnect the battery/batteries. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Single Battery . Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
- Remove the front driver seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
- Release the clips and remove the lower steering column opening trim panel.
- Press the stop tabs inward and fully lower the glove compartment.
- Release the clips and remove the trim panel.
- On both sides.
- Position aside the selector lever bezel.
- Lift the back of the selector lever bezel and release the tabs.
- Lift the front of the selector lever bezel and release the tabs.
- Remove the screws, release the clips, disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the lower instrument panel trim panel.
- Remove the covers, screws and the lower center console trim panel.
- Remove the bolts and the support bracket.
Torque
: 18 Nm
- Remove the weatherstrip.
- Remove the caps and the retainers.
- Release the trim pins and remove the driver door step.
- Remove the retainers and position the floor carpet aside to get access to the battery cables.
