Fuel Lines: Removal

WARNING:
Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures may be present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect CHARGING SYSTEM - (BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES)
- With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Remove the high pressure fuel pump insulator shield.

NOTE: Wrap the fuel line connector with a shop towel to absorb any residual fuel pressure during the removal of the fuel line.
- Disconnect the fuel lines quick release couplings. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING
- Release the fuel lines routing retainer.
- Disconnect the quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING
- Vehicle equipped with extended range fuel tankDisconnect the quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING

NOTE: Vehicle body removed from art for clarity.NOTE: The fuel feed line should be removed from the bottom of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the fuel feed line quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING
- Release the retainers and remove the fuel lines.
