Cylinder Head RH: Installation

- Inspect for any debri before installing the water jacket.
- Install the water jacket flush with the bottom of the block.
- Install the cylinder head gasket.

NOTE: If the cylinder head is replaced, a new secondary timing chain tensioner will need to be installed.NOTE: Install new cylinder head bolts.
Install the cylinder head and the new bolts.
Torque: Stage 1: 20 Nm Stage 2: 35 Nm Stage 3: 90deg. Stage 4: 90deg. Stage 5: 45deg.
- Install the M6 bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm

NOTE: The valve tappets must be installed in their original positions.
Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil and install.

NOTE: Do not use power tools to remove the bolt or damage to the upper RH timing chain guide may occur.
Install the RH timing chain guide and the bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm

NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
Install the CMP sensors and the bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm

- Connect and attach the direct injection wiring harness electrical connector.
- Connect the RH CMP sensor electrical connectors.
- Connect the CHT sensor electrical connector.
- Install the heat shield and the stud bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm

NOTE: In stage 3, if the torque required to tighten any flare nut on the new high-pressure fuel tube reaches or exceeds 55 lb.ft (75 Nm), then that high pressure fuel tube must be discarded and replaced with another new high-pressure fuel tube.NOTE: Make sure that a new high-pressure fuel tube is installed.NOTE: Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque using the Torque Wrench Adapter Formulas.
- Install the fuel rail to fuel rail high-pressure fuel tube and finger tight the flare nuts.
- Tighten the flare nuts in the following 3 stages.
Torque: Stage 1: 7 Nm Stage 2: 10 Nm Stage 3: 30deg.
- Install the RH camshafts. Refer to: Camshafts .
- Position the RH catalytic converter and install new flange nuts.
Torque: 40 Nm
- Install the LH catalytic converter flange and new nuts.
Torque: 40 Nm
- Attach the exhaust hanger and install the exhaust flange bolts.
Torque: 40 Nm
- Connect the RH HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor.
- Connect the LH HO2S, catalyst monitor sensor and the wiring harness retainers.

- Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Install the oil pan drain plug.
Torque: 27 Nm
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter.Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

- Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and install and tighten in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Install to initial gasket contact.
- Stage 2: Tighten 3/4 to 1 turn.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - VEHICLES WITH: SINGLE BATTERY . Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - VEHICLES WITH: DUAL BATTERIES
- Pressurize the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
- Road test the vehicle.
