Axle Tube Bearing: Removal

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. Drain the front differential. Refer to: Differential Draining and Filling .
  3. Remove the front LH halfshafts. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH .
  4. Using general equipment, release the clamps and position the transfer case coolant hoses aside.Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  5. Remove and discard the front axle tube bolts.

  6. Remove the front axle tube bolts and front axle tube.

    • Position the front axle tube in a soft-jawed vise.Use the General Equipment: Vise

    • Remove and discard the front axle tube metal deflector.

  8. Using general equipment, remove and discard the snap ring.Use the General Equipment: Snap Ring Pliers

  9. Remove the axle shaft from the axle tube.

  10. Using general equipment, remove and discard the snap ring.Use the General Equipment: Snap Ring Pliers

  11. Remove the axle shaft bearing.
