Pinpoint Test J: Parking Brake Inoperative

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    The parking brake switch is a 3 position switch with 2 sets of 3 internal micro switches, one set is for APPLY and one set is for RELEASE. The 3 switch positions are APPLY (pulled up), NEUTRAL (at rest or static) and RELEASE (pushed down).

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    ABS C1034:9A Park Brake: Component or System Operating Conditions The ABS Module sets this DTC when an invalid park brake request is given. I.e a park brake application is requested and the vehicle speed is greater than the static threshold. The EPB will also log a DTC due to the invalid request, but not enter a fault state. OR The ABS Module sets this DTC when the rear left and rear right actuator positions are incoherent to each other.

    Possible Sources 

    • ABS Module
    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • EPB actuator motor
