Wheel Hub: Installation
All vehicles

NOTE: The inner wheel hub seal surface should be clean of all foreign material before installation.
Using the special tools, install the new inner wheel hub seal.Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 205-422 Installer, Wheel Hub Oil Seal (10 1/2).
- Clean and inspect the hub spindle. Coat the hub spindle with clean axle lubricant.
Material: Motorcraft® SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant / XY-75W85-QL (WSS-M2C942-A)
Vehicles with Drum In Hat Parking Brake
- Clean and inspect the hub spindle. Coat the hub spindle with clean axle lubricant.
Material: Motorcraft® SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant / XY-75W85-QL (WSS-M2C942-A)
- Install the wheel hub.
All vehicles
- Install the wheel hub.

NOTE: The wheel hub bearings must be prelubricated with grease prior to installation. Pack each bearing with a bearing packing tool. Also apply grease to the thrust surface of the bearing.
Install the outer wheel hub bearing.

NOTE: SRW shown, others similar.NOTE: The wheel hub nuts are RH thread (right hub), and LH thread (left hub).
LH shown RH similar.
NOTE: Always apply inward pressure when tightening or loosening the hub nut.NOTE: Rotate the wheel hub occasionally while tightening the hub nut.Using the special tool, install the hub nut.Use Special Service Tool: 205-1007 Socket, Axle Nut.
Torque:Stage 1: 70 lb.ft (95 Nm)Stage 2: Loosen: 180deg.Stage 3: 25 lb.ft (34 Nm)
Vehicles equipped with Drum in Hat
- Using the special tool, install the wheel hub nut.Use Special Service Tool: 205-1007 Socket, Axle Nut.
Torque:Stage 1: 65 lb.ft (88 Nm)Stage 2: Loosen: 180deg.Stage 3: 25 lb.ft (34 Nm)
All vehicles

- Zero the Dial Indicator Gauge with Holding Fixture.
- Place the dial indicator tip on the outboard surface of the wheel hub and verify there is no side-to-side end play.
- Install the brake disc. Refer to: BRAKE DISC
- Check the differential fluid level. Refer to: Differential Fluid Level Check .
