Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill

Materials 

Draining 

1.5L EcoBlue (70kW/95PS) (Z2)/1.5L EcoBlue (90kW/120PS) (BE) 

1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to the appropriate Service Information
2. Loosen the clamp and remove the air cleaner tube.

   2.0L Duratec-HE (110kW/150PS) - MI4 

3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
4. • Remove the quick release couplings.
   • Loosen the clamp.
   • Remove the air cleaner tube.

   All vehicles 

5. Loosen the clamp and the clip and remove the transmission ventilation tube.

6. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
7. If equipped. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

8. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
   NOTE: If an internal problem is suspected, drain the transmission fluid through a paper filter. A small amount of metal or friction particles may be found from normal wear. If an excessive amount of metal or friction material is present, the transmission will need to be overhauled.
   • Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and drain the fluid.
   • Install the transmission fluid drain plug.

     Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Filling 

1. Fill the transmission fluid. Refer to Specifications .

   Material

   : Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)

2. Install the transmission ventilation tube and attach the clip and the clamp.

3. Install the air cleaner tube and the clamp.

4. Refer to the appropriate repair information.
