Transmission Fluid Level Check

For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations refer to OEM COLOR CODING

Check 

  1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool and position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Start and run the engine the engine at idle.
  3. Fully apply the brake pedal and parking brake.

  4. NOTE: Make sure that the selector lever and the gearshift mechanism are in the PARK (P) position.

  5. If equipped. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

    NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is standing on a level surface.
    NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the transmission fluid leveling plug.

    NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
    • If transmission fluid seeps out of hole, allow to continue until the transmission fluid stops seeping.

    • If transmission fluid does not seep out, add fluid in 0, 26 qt (250 ml) increments until it starts to seep. Refer to: Specifications .

    Install the transmission fluid leveling plug.

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  9. If equipped. Install the underbody shield and the retainers.

  10. Stop the engine.
