DTC P117A - Engine Oil Overtemperature - Forced Limited Power

DTC DESCRIPTION P117A - ENGINE OIL OVERTEMPERATURE AND FORCED LIMITED POWER

Description:  This DTC sets when the engine oil protection strategy is enabled when the engine oil temperature reaches a predetermined level in the PCM. The PCM then limits the engine RPMs until the engine oil temperature returns to normal.
Possible Causes: 
  • Engine overheating
  • Low engine coolant
  • Loaded weight is greater than the maximum vehicle weight rating. Refer to the Owner's Literature for vehicle weight ratings.
Diagnostic Aids:  This DTC is an informational DTC and may be set by an engine overheating concern. If the engine overheats, check the cooling system. Refer to the Engine Cooling article, to diagnose the engine overheats symptom.
