- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Possible Sources
- Incorrect torsion rod assembly
- Tailgate damper disconnected
- A1 CHECK THE TAILGATE OPERATION
- Check the operation of the tailgate.
Does the tailgate make noise while opening/closing, drop fast, does not open fully or bind?
Yes GO to A2 No Refer to the Symptom Chart(s) . - A2 CHECK THE TAILGATE DAMPER
- Check the operation of the tailgate damper.
Does the tailgate drop too fast or is the damper disconnected?
Yes Repair as necessary. REFER to: Tailgate Damper . No GO to A3 - A3 CHECK THE TAILGATE TORSION ROD INSTALLATION
- Verify torsion rod installation.
- Loosen the torsion rod clamp bolts.
- Check alignment and installation of the torsion rod. REFER to: Tailgate Torsion Rod .
- Operate the tailgate and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes Replace the tailgate torsion rod. REFER to: Tailgate Torsion Rod . No The system is operating correctly at this time. Refer to the Symptom Chart(s) . - Verify torsion rod installation.
