DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition SOBDMC P2531:00 Ignition Switch Run Position Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the BCM sends a key-on CAN message but the hard-wired signal indicates the circuit is open or shorted to ground. SOBDMC P2533:1F Ignition Switch On/Start Position Circuit: Circuit Intermittent This DTC sets when an intermittent short is detected on the ignition switch circuit. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- BCMC
- BT1 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to BT2 No REPAIR the open circuit. - BT2 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect BCMC C1035B.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1035B-8 C1458A-K2
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to BT3 No REPAIR the open circuit. - BT3 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the short circuit. No GO to BT4 - BT4 CHECK FOR LOW VOLTAGE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)NOTE: They key cycle is very important, the DTC will not clear unless a key cycle is completed.
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.
- Connect BCMC C1035B.
- Ignition ON.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.
Are DTCs P2531:00 or P2533:1F present in the Inverter System Controller (ISC)?
Yes GO to BT5 No REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Input and Output Controls . Pinpoint Test Z. - BT5 CHECK FOR CORRECT AN INTERMITTENT WIRING CONCERN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes INSTALL a new BCMC. REFER to: Body Control Module C (BCMC) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
