  1. Rotate the flexplate to align the 2 slots at the 6 o'clock position.

  2. Remove the bolt and the special tool. Use Special Service Tool: 307-346 (T97T-7902-A) Retainer, Torque Converter.

    • Lubricate the torque converter pilot hub with multi-purpose grease.

      Material: Motorcraft ® Multi-Purpose Grease Spray / XL-5-A (ESB-M1C93-B)

    • Align the paint dot on the torque converter in the 12 o'clock position.

  3. With the aid of an assistant, position the engine assembly into the vehicle and onto the transmission. Use Special Service Tool: 303-F047 Lifting Bracket, Engine. Use the General Equipment: Floor Crane

  4. NOTE: Do not tighten at this time.

    Install the transmission-to-engine bolts.

  5. Instal the transmission-to-engine bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  6. Tighten the transmission-to-engine bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  7. Clean the RH engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material.

  11. NOTE: Do not support the transmission by the fluid pan, failure to follow this instruction may result in serious damage to the transmission.

    Remove the floor jack and the block of wood. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

  12. Using a Floor Crane and the special tool, lower the engine onto the engine mounts.

    • Remove Special Service Tool: 303-F047 Lifting Bracket, Engine. Use the General Equipment: Floor Crane

  13. NOTE: Do not tighten the fasteners at this time.

    Install the new LH mount through bolt.

  15. NOTE: Only use hand tools when tightening the engine mount bolts or damage to the engine mount may occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount nuts.

    Torque: 148 lb.ft (200 Nm)

  19. NOTE: The transmission support insulator-to-crossmember nuts must be discarded and new nuts installed, or damage to the vehicle or transmission support insulator may occur.

    Remove and discard the transmission support insulator nuts.

    • NOTE: The transmission support insulator studs may come out of the insulator while removing the nuts.

      If required, tighten transmission support insulator studs.

      Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)

    • If the transmission support insulator studs can not be tightened, the transmission support insulator must be replaced. Refer to: Transmission Support Insulator .

    • Install new transmission support insulator nuts.

      Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  20. Position the fuel lines and bracket and install the upper transmission-to-engine bolts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  21. Position the power steering pump assembly and install the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  22. Connect the degas bottle coolant outlet hose and the lower radiator hose.

  23. NOTE: Only rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction.

    Install the new torque converter nuts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

    • Connect the coil-on-plug electrical connectors.

    • Attach the wiring harness retainers.

    • Position the wiring harness and install the nut.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    • Attach the wiring harness retainers.

    • Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.

  27. Position the ground strap and install the bolt on the rear of the LH cylinder head.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  28. NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine coolant prior to installation.

    Install new O-ring seals.

    • Install the coolant tube and the bolt.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    • Connect the heater hose.

    • Position the ground strap and install the bolt on the rear of the RH cylinder head.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    • Attach the wiring harness retainer.

  29. Install the following items:

    1. Cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
    2. Transmission filler tube. Refer to: Transmission Filler Tube - 6.2L V8/6.8L Triton-30V - V10 .
    3. Starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
    4. Oil cooler. Refer to: Oil Cooler .
    5. Exhaust Y-pipe. Refer to: Exhaust Y-Pipe .
    6. Coolant crossover manifold. Refer to: Coolant Crossover Manifold .
    7. Intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
    8. Generator. Refer to: Generator - 6.8L Triton-30V - V10 .
    9. A/C compressor. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 6.8L Triton-30V - V10 .
    10. Accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
    11. Cooling fan. Refer to: Cooling Fan .
    12. Cooling module. Refer to: Cooling Module .

  30. Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .

    Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)

  31. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  32. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  33. Use the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Misfire Monitor Profile Correction routine in the diagnostic scan tool.
