WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The PCM only runs the KOEO and KOER self-tests when it confirms the vehicle is in park or neutral.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition PCM P1705:00 Transmission Range Circuit Not Indicating Park/Neutral During Self Test: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the TR sensor did not show park or neutral during a KOEO or KOERPCM self-test. Possible Sources
- Carrying out a PCM self-test with the vehicle in gear
- TR sensor
- Park system components
- PCM fault
- AD1 CHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Select PARK.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs) from the PCM.
Are any TR sensor circuit or park system diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?
Yes RESOLVE all TR sensor circuit and park system diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the PCMDTC Chart. No GO to AD2 - AD2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE PARK SYSTEM
- Access the PCM and monitor the TR_CORRECTEDPID
- Select REVERSE.
- Select NEUTRAL.
- Select DRIVE.
- Select PARK.
Does PID TR_CORRECTED show correct park system operation?
Yes GO to AD5 No GO to AD3 - AD3 CHECK THE GEAR COMMANDED BY THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE)
- Access the PCM and monitor the GEAR_CMDPID
- Select REVERSE.

Are all TR sensor and park components properly installed and free of damage or binding?
Yes INSTALL a new TR sensor. REFER to: Transmission Range (TR) Sensor . No REPAIR or INSTALL new components as necessary. - AD5 RECHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) P1705
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the PCM.
- Select PARK.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests.
Is DTC P1705 present in the PCM?
Yes Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
Internet Explorer version 11 or greater is required to perform this Pinpoint Test.
After programming the new PCM, CARRY OUT the transmission strategy download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .No The concern is not present at this time. It may have been caused by carrying out a PCM self-test with the vehicle in gear.
