Pinpoint Test AF: P1711
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The PCM monitors transmission fluid temperature during KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests, and assumes the self-tests will be run on a cold vehicle at room temperature.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition PCM P1711:00 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Out Of Self Test Range: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the TFT sensor reading was out of self-test range during a KOEO or a KOER self-test. The PCM expects a transmission fluid temperature reading between -1 deg.C (30 deg.F) and 120 deg.C (248 deg.F). Possible Sources
- Transmission fluid temperature outside of self-test range
- TFT sensor fault
- PCM fault
- AF1 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE
- Ignition ON.
- Access the PCM and monitor the TFT (Deg C) PID
Does PID TFT show between -1 deg.C (30 deg.F) and 120 deg.C (248 deg.F)?
Yes GO to AF2 No If the monitored temperature is plausible, either warm the transmission fluid temperature or let it cool into self-test range, then GO to AF2 If the monitored temperature is not plausible, GO to Pinpoint Test B - AF2 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTC from the PCM.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests.
Is DTC P1711 present in the PCM?
Yes Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
Internet Explorer version 11 or greater is required to perform this Pinpoint Test.
After programming the new PCM, CARRY OUT the transmission strategy download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .No The fault is not present at this time and may have been caused by carrying out a self-test with the transmission fluid temperature out of the expected range.
