Transmission Park Manual Release Cable: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- If equipped, remove the retainers and splash shield.
- Disconnect the cable from the manual lever and bracket.

NOTE: If done correctly the panel will swing downward.
Carefully open the hinged access cover using a plastic type wedge or pry tool at the upper edges of the panel.
- Remove the bolts and the access panel.
- Release the clips and remove the lower steering column trim panel.

- Remove the lever assembly bolts.
- Remove the push pins and position the lever assembly aside.
Vehicles with Floor Console
- Release the clips and remove the floor console lower RH trim panel.
- Release the clips and remove the floor console upper RH trim panel.
- Remove the screw, release the clips and remove the floor console lower LH trim panel.
- Release the clips and remove the floor console upper LH trim panel.
- Disconnect the LH electrical connector.
- Disconnect the RH electrical connector.

- Remove the floor console bolts.
- Position the floor console towards the rear of the vehicle.
Vehicles Without Floor Console
- Remove the bolt, release the clips and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.
All vehicles

- Disconnect the cable retaining clip push pin from behind the panel.
- Disconnect the gromet and remove the cable.
