No Forward AND No Reverse Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Do not run this test for no reverse only or no forward only.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a self-test and check for DTCs.
- Move the gear selector to D or R. RECORD the RPM and TSS data while raising the engine RPM.
- If the TSS stays at 0 RPM the torque converter is not functioning. Check main control for stuck converter release regulator valve. The vehicle would typically creep a little with aggressive gas pedal. The main control can be reused if the stuck valve can be cleaned and cleared. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
- If the TSS follows engine RPM, the forward and direct clutches are not holding. Check fluid level with engine on and off. If the oil level remains the same and high, the pump is broken and need to be replaced. The vehicle would not move at all. There are pump noise associated with this sometimes. REFER to: Transmission .
