- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Using a holding device, hold the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Remove the RH and LH fender splash shields. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the bolts and the skid plate.
- Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the following items:
- Hood. Refer to: Hood .
- Cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .

NOTE: It is not necessary to clamp off the degas bottle hose with the cooling system drained.
Degas bottle. Refer to: Degas Bottle .
- Cooling module. Refer to: Cooling Module .
- Intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
- Right hand (RH) and left hand (LH) CAC intake pipes. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
- Disconnect the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector.

NOTE: Discard the O-ring seals and gaskets.
Remove the nut and disconnect the A/C tube.

NOTE: Discard the O-ring seals and gaskets.
Remove the nuts and the A/C tubes.
- Rotate the retaining ring counterclockwise 180 degrees and remove the TC bypass tube.
- Release the clamps and remove the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Detach the vacuum harness retainer.

NOTE: If equipped.
Disconnect the vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the quick release couplings and remove the EVAP tube assembly. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .

- Disconnect the crankcase pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the PCV tube quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .
- Remove the nuts, the wiring ground terminal and detach the wiring harness retainer.

- Detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connector.
- Detach the engine wiring harness retainer.
- Disconnect the heater core inlet and outlet hoses.
-
- Disconnect the high-pressure fuel pump fuel feed tube quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .
- Disconnect the EVAP tube quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .
- Remove the bolt, nut and the bracket.
-
- Remove the EGR tube nuts.
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors.
- Detach the engine wiring harness and vacuum harness retainer.
- Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the EGR valve assembly.
- Remove and discard the EGR tube gasket.

- Disconnect the coolant hose quick release coupling.
- Release the clamp and remove the coolant pipe assembly. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connectors.
- Detach the wiring harness retainer.
-
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
- Lift the protective cover, remove the nut and position the harness aside.

WARNING: Do not reuse steering column shaft bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column shaft detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).
- Remove and discard the steering column shaft bolt.
- Separate the steering column shaft u-joint from the steering gear.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Detach the wiring harness retainer located below the generator from the cylinder block.

- Disconnect the quick release couplings and remove the coolant hose.
- Disconnect the quick release coupling and position the coolant hose aside.
- Remove the nut and position the coolant tube retainer aside.
- Detach the retainer from the oil pan and position the coolant tubes aside.

- Remove the pin-type retainer.
- Remove the wiring harness retainer nut and position the wiring harness aside.
-
- Remove the bolt and ground wire.
- Remove the pin-type retainer and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the following items:
- Starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Transmission fluid cooler. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Cooler - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS)/5.0L 32V Ti-VCT .

NOTE: If equipped.
Front drive shaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .
- Remove the engine oil filter and drain the engine oil. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
- Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter nuts.
- Remove and discard the LH catalytic converter nuts.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolts and separate.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Position the catalytic converters back.
- Remove and discard the exhaust gaskets.
- Remove the retainers and the access cover.
-
NOTE: Using the crankshaft pulley bolt, turn the engine clockwise.
Remove and discard the torque converter nuts.
-
NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.
Loosen the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.
Remove and discard the LH engine mount through bolt.

NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing the engine mount nuts, stud bolts or damage to the engine mount can occur.
Remove and discard the RH engine mount nuts.
- Remove the studs.
- Remove the lower bellhousing bolt.
- Remove the RH side bellhousing bolt.

NOTE: If equipped.
Detach the 4x4 vent hose retainer.
- Remove the top bellhousing bolts and position aside the bracket.
- Remove the LH bellhousing bolts and the selector lever cable bracket.

NOTE: Do not support the transmission by the fluid pan, failure to follow this instruction may result in serious damage to the transmission.
Support the bellhousing of the transmission with a suitable floor jack and a block of wood. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the engine mount-to-frame bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-frame nut plate can occur.
Remove and discard the engine mount-to-frame bolts.
- Install Special Service Tool: 303-1634 Lift Eyes (2), 303-1246 Engine Spreader Bar.

NOTE: It will be necessary to adjust the height floor jack to support the transmission.
- Install a floor crane and a length of chain with connecting links. Use the General Equipment: Floor Crane
- Raise the engine assembly and position the engine to the RH side of the vehicle.
- Remove the LH engine mount.
- Remove the remaining transmission bellhousing bolts.
- With the aid of an assistant, use the floor crane to remove the engine assembly from the vehicle. Use the General Equipment: Floor Crane
