Pinpoint Test CB : The SEATBELT Warning Chime Or The Belt-Minder ® Feature Is Inoperative

- CB1 CHECK THE HEADLAMPS ON WARNING CHIME
- Ignition OFF.
- Turn the headlamps on.
- Remove the ignition key (except push button start) or place the ignition OFF (with push button start).
- Open the driver door.
- Monitor the headlamps on warning chime.
Does the headlamps on warning chime operate?
Yes GO to CB2 No Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . - CB2 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.
Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds?
Yes For a Belt-Minder ® concern, GO to CB3. For the seatbelt concern, GO to CB4 No GO to CB5 - CB3 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the speedometer operates.
Does the speedometer operate?
Yes GO to CB4 No GO to Pinpoint Test G - CB4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . No GO to CB5 - CB5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No GO to CB6 - CB6 PERFORM THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Airbag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) . No GO to CB7 - CB7 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Communications Network . No GO to CB8 - CB8 CHECK THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT BUCKLE SWITCH
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the RCM driver seatbelt buckle Parameter Identifications (PIDs) (SBELT_D_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt.
Do the Parameter Identifications (PIDs) display BUCKLED with the seatbelt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the seatbelt unbuckled?
Yes GO to CB9 No INSTALL a new seatbelt buckle. Refer to: Front Seatbelt Buckle . - CB9 CHECK THE BELT-MINDER ® CONFIGURATIONNOTE: Verify that an administrator key is used for this test and not a MyKey ® programmed key. When a MyKey ® programmed key is used, the Belt-Minder ® is automatically turned on and cannot be disabled (if previously disabled by an administrator, the Belt-Minder ® remains disabled when an administrator key is used).
- Verify the Belt-Minder ® is activated or configured on. Refer to: Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating .
Is the Belt-Minder ® activated for the seating position in question?
Yes If the Belt-Minder ® is always on above 10 km/h (6 mph) with the seatbelt unfastened, the system is operating correctly. If the Belt-Minder ® is always on with the seatbelt fastened or never on with the seatbelt unfastened above 10 km/h (6 mph), INSTALL a new RCM. Refer to: Restraints Control Module (RCM) . No ACTIVATE the Belt-Minder ®. Refer to: Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating .
