Pinpoint Test Bu : The Parking Brake Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. BU1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BU2
    No  Refer to IPC Guided Routine Testing .

  2. BU2 CHECK THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

    • Apply the parking brake.

    • Observe the brake warning indicator.

    Does the brake warning indicator illuminate? 

    Yes  GO to  BU3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test R 

  3. BU3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    No  GO to  BU4

  4. BU4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CM DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE all BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
