Intermediate Clutch

Condition	Possible Sources	Action
Intermediate clutch does not apply	Main control to intermediate clutch feed tube o-ring missing or damaged. Intermediate clutch feed tube to center support seal missing, blocked, or damaged.	INSTALL a new seal. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	SSC is mechanically stuck OFF	INSTALL a new solenoid. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
	Intermediate (2, 6) Clutch regulator valve stuck OFF	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the regulator valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	D432, CB26, PC3, PC3Z, CB26FB hydraulic circuits blocked/leaking. PC3 Solenoid damper missing/damaged	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for debris/blockage/leaks. CLEAN as necessary. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Center support, intermediate clutch hub/direct clutch drum	INSPECT components wear and damage. CLEAN and/or INSTALL new components necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
	Intermediate clutch friction plates	INSPECT components wear and damage. CLEAN and/or INSTALL new components necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
	Intermediate clutch piston seals	INSPECT the seals for wear and damage. INSTALL new seals. Refer to: Transmission .
Intermediate clutch always applied	Intermediate clutch feed tube to center support seal blocked, or damaged.	INSTALL a new seal. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	SSC mechanically stuck ON	INSTALL a new solenoid. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
	Intermediate (2, 6) Clutch regulator valve stuck ON	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the regulator valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Main control cross leaking in to PC3, PC3Z, and CB26 hydraulic circuits	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Intermediate clutch hub/direct clutch drum seized / unable to rotate.	INSPECT components wear and damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
	Intermediate clutch friction plates	INSPECT components wear and damage. INSTALL new components necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
Intermediate clutch delayed/soft/slipping apply	Incorrect transmission strategy programmed into PCM.	PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
	Main control to intermediate clutch feed tube o-ring missing or damaged. Intermediate clutch feed tube to center support seal missing, blocked, or damaged.	INSTALL a new seal. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	SSC mechanically sticking	INSTALL a new solenoid. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
	Intermediate (2, 6) clutch regulator or latch valve sticking	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the valves. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	D432, CB26, PC3, PC3Z, CB26FB hydraulic circuits blocked/leaking. PC3 solenoid damper missing/damaged	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for debris/blockage/leaks. CLEAN as necessary. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Center support cracked, center support bleed hole blocked.	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission passages for debris/blockage/leaks. CLEAN as necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
	Intermediate clutch friction plates	INSPECT components wear and damage. INSTALL new components necessary. Refer to: Transmission .
	Intermediate clutch piston seals	INSPECT the seals for damage. INSTALL new seals. Refer to: Transmission .
Intermediate clutch harsh apply	Incorrect transmission strategy programmed into PCM.	PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
	Intermediate clutch feed tube to center support seal blocked.	INSTALL a new seal. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	SSC mechanically sticking	INSTALL a new solenoid. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
	Intermediate (2, 6) clutch regulator or latch valve stuck ON, broken regulator or latch valve spring.	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the valves. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Main control cross leaking in to PC3, PC3Z, and CB26 hydraulic circuits,	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. Refer to: Main Control Valve Body .
