Pinpoint Test A : Transmission Control Solenoids

- A1 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGENOTE: Read and record all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Transmission Vehicle Harness C1623 .
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
Is the maximum recorded voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to A4 No GO to A2 - A2 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect PCM C175E .
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to A3 No REPAIR transmission vehicle harness circuit for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. - A3 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C175E-91 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to A4 No REPAIR transmission vehicle harness circuit short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. - Measure:
- A4 CHECK SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect PCM C175E .
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid control circuits using the following chart:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C175E-75 C1623-3 C175E-74 C1623-4 C175E-73 C1623-5 C175E-72 C1623-6 C175E-15 C1623-7 C175E-14 C1623-8 C175E-13 C1623-9
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms on each circuit?
Yes GO to A5 No REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. - A5 CHECK SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the transmission vehicle harness C1623
, harness side and ground using the following chart:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1623-3 Ground C1623-4 Ground C1623-5 Ground C1623-6 Ground C1623-7 Ground C1623-8 Ground C1623-9 Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to A6 No REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. - Measure the resistance between the transmission vehicle harness C1623
, harness side and ground using the following chart:
- A6 CHECK SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Connect PCM C175E .
- Measure the voltage between the transmission vehicle harness C1623
, harness side and ground using the following chart:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1623-3 Ground C1623-4 Ground C1623-5 Ground C1623-6 Ground C1623-7 Ground C1623-8 Ground C1623-9 Ground
Is voltage greater than 3 volts on each circuit?
Yes REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. No GO to A7 - A7 CHECK COMPONENT RESISTANCE
- Measure resistance of the solenoid between the transmission C1623
, component side using the following charts:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead SSA component side C1623-2 C1623-3 SSB component side C1623-1 C1623-4 SSC component side C1623-2 C1623-5 SSD component side C1623-1 C1623-6 SSE component side C1623-2 C1623-7 LPC solenoid component side C1623-1 C1623-8 TCC solenoid component side C1623-1 C1623-9
Is the resistance measurement between 4.8 and 5.4 ohms?
Yes INSPECT for stuck valves or debris. If no problems are found, REPLACE suspected solenoid. CLEAR the DTCs. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . No INSPECT the transmission internal harness for an open. If an open circuit is not found, INSTALL a new solenoid. CLEAR the DTCs. Refer to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . - Measure resistance of the solenoid between the transmission C1623
, component side using the following charts:
