Inspection
- Use the following table to evaluate the cooling system condition and choose the correct procedure to restore the system.
CONDITION ACTION A component in the cooling system has been removed to gain access to another component or system, or any of the following components have been replaced:
Charge air cooler (CAC)
Thermostat
Radiator
Coolant Pump
Cooling System hoses or tubesPerform coolant test procedure. For additional information, Refer to: Coolant Test NOTE: *Except as part of a new engine or short block installation.Major coolant loss, including empty coolant bottle, more than 24 hours before repair*Evidence of stop leak being used*Coolant is being replaced*Perform cooling system flush. For additional information, Refer to: Powertrain Secondary Cooling System Flushing - Without Fuel Contamination . Any of the following components have been replaced (except as part of a new engine or short block installation):
Fuel CoolerIf no oil contamination of the coolant, perform cooling system flush. For additional information, Refer to: Powertrain Secondary Cooling System Flushing - Without Fuel Contamination . If coolant is contaminated with oil, perform with-contamination cooling system flush. For additional information, Refer to: Powertrain Secondary Cooling System Flushing - With Fuel Contamination .
