Pinpoint Test L: The Auto Stop-Start Indicator Is Never Or Always On

If the stop-start standby indicator request message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the auto stop-start warning indicator to its last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.
If the stop-start standby indicator request message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the auto stop-start indicator off.

- Ignition ON.

Using the message center controls, verify the stop-start feature is enabled.
Is the stop-start system enabled?
Yes GO to L2 No ENABLE the stop-start feature and INFORM the customer how to enable the feature. - L2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the IPC Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Select the IPC all lamps (ALL_LAMP) PID.
- Command all the indicators on then off while observing the auto stop-start indicator.
Does the auto stop-start indicator turn on when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes GO to L3 No INSTALL a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - L3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC . No GO to L4 - L4 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article . No GO to L5 - L5 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Communications Network . No DIAGNOSE the auto stop-start feature. REFER to the appropriate Starting System article .
