Pinpoint Test AQ: A Hill Start Assist Message Is Never Or Always Displayed

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Hill Start Assist Display. REFER to: Message Center - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the hill start assist status messages are missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the hill start assist message center display to its last state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the hill start assist status messages are missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC displays the hill start assist not available message in the message center.

    Possible Sources 

    • Hill start assist system concern
    • ABS module concern
    • GWM concern
    • IPC

  2. AQ1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors and the hood.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning is active.

      Monitor the door ajar message center warning.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar message center warning.

    Does the driver door ajar message center warning turn off with the driver door closed and turn on with the driver door open? 

    Yes  GO to  AQ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test S 
  3. AQ2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  AQ3
  4. AQ3 PERFORM THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ABS module self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
    No  GO to  AQ4
  5. AQ4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES(S)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Touble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE the hill start assist. REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
