Front Subframe - Install after Access

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment

502-002 (T94P-2100-AH) Alignment Pins, Subframe
Transmission Jack
  1. NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.

    Partially raise the subframe and position it to the vehicle.

    Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  2. Position the EPAS gear harness, clip the 5 harness retainers and connect the 2 electrical connectors.

  3. Position the EPAS gear heat shield, install the 3 heat shield retainers and the ground strap.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  4. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    1. Raise the subframe.

      Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

    2. Install the 2 forward subframe bolts.
    3. Install the 2 new rearward subframe bolts.
    4. Install the 4 bracket to front subframe bolts.
    5. Install the 2 bracket bolts.

  5. On both sides. Use the special tool to align the subframe to the vehicle.

    Remove Special Service Tool: 502-002 (T94P-2100-AH) Alignment Pins, Subframe.

  6. NOTE: While tightening the subframe bolts, make sure the front subframe does not move.

    1. Tighten the 2 forward subframe bolts.

      Torque

      : 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

    2. Tighten the 2 new rearward subframe bolts.

      Torque

      :Stage 1: 103 lb.ft (140 Nm)

      Stage 2: 180°

    3. Tighten the 4 bracket to front subframe bolts.

      Torque

      : 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

    4. Tighten the 2 bracket bolts.

      Torque

      : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  7. Remove Special Service Tool: 502-002 (T94P-2100-AH) Alignment Pins, Subframe.
  8. Remove the equipment.

  9. Clip the EPAS gear wire harness retainers.

  10. Install the roll restrictor bolt.

    Torque

    : 92 lb.ft (125 Nm)

  11. Install the exhaust support bracket bolts.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

  12. Remove the equipment.

  13. On both sides. Connect the lower ball joint to the wheel knuckle and install the new ball joint pinch bolt and nut.

    Torque

    : 61 lb.ft (83 Nm)

  14. NOTE: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.

    On both sides. Connect the tie rod end to the wheel knuckle and install the new tie rod end nut.

    Torque

    : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  15. NOTE: The stabilizer bar links are designed with low friction ball joints that have a low breakaway torque.
    NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nut.

    On both sides. Position the stabilizer bar links and install the new stabilizer bar link lower nut.

    Torque

    : 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  16. On both sides. Install the load path bar retainers.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  17. If equipped, position the underbody shield and install the retainers.

  18. Position the steering shaft coupler and install the new steering shaft coupler bolt.

    Torque

    : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  19. Install the wheels and tires. Refer to: WHEELS AND TIRES .
  20. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  21. Check and if necessary adjust front toe. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment .
