Pinpoint Test P: An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From The RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) Transmitter

- RKE transmitter
Visual Inspection and Pre-checks
- Inspect the RKE transmitter for damage.
- P1 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION

NOTE: Make sure the key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder.
Open the driver door.
Does the key-in-ignition warning chime sound?
Yes REFER to: Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes . No GO to P2 -
- P2 VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION
- Press the lock and unlock button on a door lock control switch while observing the door lock operation.
Do the door locks operate?
Yes GO to P3 No GO to Pinpoint Test J - P3 VERIFY THE HORN OPERATION USING THE HORN OUTPUT (HORN) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, select the BCMPID HORN and active command the horn on and then off.
Does the horn sound when commanded on?
Yes GO to P4 No REFER to: Horn . - P4 VERIFY THE HAZARD LAMP OPERATION
- Activate the hazard flasher lamp function.
Do all of the turn lamps operate?
Yes If equipped with a liftgate, GO to P5 If not equipped with a liftgate, REPLACE the suspect RKE transmitter. If the suspect RKE transmitter is an Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT), ERASE and PROGRAM the keys. REFER to:Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys or Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys - Vehicles With: Keyless Vehicle System . If the suspect RKE transmitter is a key fob, PROGRAM the RKE transmitter. REFER to: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Programming . No REFER to: Turn Signal and Hazard Lamps . - P5 VERIFY THE LIFTGATE LATCH RELEASE OPERATION
- Unlock the doors using a door lock control switch.
- Press the liftgate release switch located on the liftgate.
Does the liftgate latch release?
Yes REPLACE the suspect RKE transmitter. If the suspect RKE transmitter is an Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT), ERASE and PROGRAM the keys. REFER to: Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys or Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys - Vehicles With: Keyless Vehicle System . If the suspect RKE transmitter is a key fob, PROGRAM the RKE transmitter. REFER to: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Programming . No GO to Pinpoint Test N
