- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview
- Remove the bolts and position the degas bottle aside.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- Remove the cooler line connection secondary latches.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the transmission cooler line connection clips and disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes from the front transmission fluid cooler tubes.
- Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.
- Remove the starter. Refer to: Starter Motor
- Remove the RH and LH catalytic converters. Refer to: Catalytic Converter LH
- Remove the driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft
- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill
- Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket retainers.
- Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket retainers, disconnect the starter harness pushpin and remove the bracket.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the bolts and the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes.

- Disconnect the ISS sensor.
- Detach the HO2S sensor connector from the transmission.
- Detach the harness push type retainers from the transmission.
- Disconnect the bulkhead connector by turning counter clockwise, the connector by releasing the lock on top of the connector and detach the harness push type retainer.
- Position the trans jack and support the transmission with a strap. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove the transmission support retainers and the transmission support.
- Remove the bottom transmission stud bolts.
- Lower the transmission jack to access the top of the transmission. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove the park release cable retainers, detach the park release cable push type retainers, detach the cable end from the park release lever and position the park release cable aside.

- Disconnect the bulk head connector by turn it counter clockwise.
- Disconnect the park position sensor.
- Disconnect the shaft speed sensors.
- Detach the harness push type retainers.
- Disconnect the transmission vent and position aside.
- Remove the transmission harness retainer and position the harness aside.
- Remove the top transmission stud bolts.
- Remove the bottom transmission stud bolts.
- Remove the harness retainer.
- Remove the transmission stud bolts.
- Remove the transmission bolts.
- Remove the transmission by pulling towards the back and then lower the trans jack. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- If replacing the transmission. Remove the bolts and the transmission mount.
