Transmission Internal Wiring Harness: Installation

  1. Install the transmission internal wiring harness.

    1. Install the transmission electrical harness and connect the solenoid connectors.
    2. Connect the PLHS electrical connector and attach the connector pushpin retainer.
    3. NOTE: Before installing the bolt, apply a small amount of the thread locking compound listed below.

      Install the temperature sensor bolt.

      Material: Motorcraft® Threadlock 262 / TA-26 (WSK-M2G351-A6)

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

  2. Clean and inspect the transmission oil pan seal surface and the bulkhead electrical connector O-ring.

  3. Install a new transmission fluid pan seal.

    1. Lube and install the bulkhead electrical connector by pushing it through the transmission pan. Listen for the connector to snap in to locked position.
    2. Install the transmission fluid pan.
    3. Install the transmission fluid pan bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  5. Connect the bulkhead electrical connector, by rotating the connector clockwise.

  6. Connect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect
  7. Fill the transmission fluid. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill
