Pinpoint Test A: P0562:00, P0563:00

  1. Refer to FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    If the TCCM observes an overpower or underpower voltage condition, a DTC is set and all TCCM outputs are turned off.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    TCCM P0562:00 System Voltage Low: No Sub Type Information This TCCM sets when the TCCM detects battery voltage less than 9 volts for 5 seconds or more at the TCCM.
    TCCM P0563:00 System Voltage High: No Sub Type Information This TCCM sets when the TCCM detects battery voltage greater than 16 volts for 5 seconds or more at the TCCM.

    Possible Sources 

    • Fuse
    • Charging system
    • Open TCCM Ground
    • Open TCCM power circuit
    • TCCM power circuit short to ground
    • TCCM power circuit short to ground

  2. A1 RETRIEVE ALL CMDTC (CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) IN ALL MODULES

    NOTE: DTC P0562:00 or P0563:00 can be set if the vehicle has been recently jump started, the battery has been recently charged or the battery has been discharged. The battery may become discharged due to excessive load(s) on the charging system from aftermarket accessories or if the battery has been left unattended with the accessories on.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Enter the following diagnostic mode: Retrieve all CMDTC.

    Is DTC P0562:00 or P0563:00 present in one or more modules or P0563, P0620, P0625, P0626 or P065B present in the PCM? 

    Yes  For diagnosis of the battery and charging system, REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS)
    No  GO to  A2
  3. A2 CHECK VOLTAGE AND GROUND TO THE TCCM (TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE)

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage between 11 and 14 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  A4
    No  GO to  A3
  4. A3 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE TCCM (TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE)

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the voltage between 11 and 14 volts? 

    Yes  REPAIR the ground circuit. CLEAR all CMDTC.
    No  VERIFY BCMC fuse 13 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the open circuit. If not OK, REFER to the OEM ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM INTRODUCTION to identify possible causes of the circuit short. CLEAR all CMDTC.
  5. A4 CHECK FOR CORRECT TCCM (TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all TCCM connectors.

    • Check for the following: 

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Connect TCCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new TCCM. REFER to: Fuel System - Overview
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of the connector or pin issues.
