DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition PAM B1B46:08 Right Rear Inner Sensor: Bus Signal/Message Failures A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the PAM when there is a message failure on the LIN for the RHR inner parking aid sensor. PAM B1B46:31 Right Rear Inner Sensor: No Signal A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the PAM when no signal is received on the LIN for the RHR inner parking aid sensor. PAM B1B46:1F Right Rear Inner Sensor: Circuit Intermittent A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the PAM when an intermittent fault is detected on the LIN for the RHR inner parking aid sensor. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- RHR inner parking aid sensor
- PAM
- I1 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM self-test.
- Check the parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.
Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for multiple rear parking aid sensors recorded?
Yes GO to I2 No * For Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B1B46:08, B1B46:31 or B1B46:1F GO to I3
* For all other PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart . - I2 CHECK THE REAR BUMPER WIRING HARNESS
- Inspect the rear bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds or corrosion.
Is the rear bumper wiring harness OK?
Yes GO to I3 No REPAIR or INSTALL a new rear bumper wiring harness. - I3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SENSOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect RHR inner parking aid sensor C4012.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4012-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 9 volts?
Yes GO to I4 No REPAIR the circuit. - I4 CHECK FOR GROUND AT THE SENSOR
Is the voltage greater than 9 volts?
Yes GO to I5 No REPAIR the circuit. - I5 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect PAM C9071A.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4012-2 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the affected circuits. No GO to I6 - I6 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4012-2 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to I7 No REPAIR the circuit. - I7 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO VREF OR SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUITS
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to I8 No REPAIR the affected circuits. - I8 CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4012-1 C9071A-3 C4012-2 C9071A-15 C4012-3 C9071A-10
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to I9 No REPAIR the affected circuit. - I9 INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR
- Connect PAM C9071A.
- Install a known good sensor for the suspect RHR inner parking aid sensor. REFER to: Rear Inner Parking Aid Sensor .
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test.
Is DTC B1B46:08, B1B46:31 or B1B46:1F still present?
Yes GO to I10 No INSTALL a new RHR inner parking aid sensor. REFER to: Rear Inner Parking Aid Sensor . - I10 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all PAM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. INSTALL a new PAM No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
