Cylinder Head LH: Installation
- Install the cylinder head gasket.

NOTE: If the cylinder head is replaced, a new secondary timing chain tensioner will need to be installed.NOTE: Install new cylinder head bolts.
Install the cylinder head and the new bolts. Tighten in sequence in 5 stages.
Torque:
Stage 1: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
Stage 2: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
Stage 3: 90°
Stage 4: 90°
Stage 5: 45°
- Install the M6 bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: The valve tappets must be installed in their original positions.
Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil and install.
Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)

NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
Install the CMP sensors and the bolts.
Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Connect the CMP sensors electrical connectors.
- Install the ground strap and stud bolt.
Torque:
Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
Stage 2: 20°
- Attach the wiring harness retainer.
- Disconnect the LH fuel charge harness electrical connector.

NOTE: Make sure that a new high pressure fuel tube and a new high pressure fuel tube bracket bolt are installed.NOTE: Install the new high pressure fuel tube, the high pressure fuel tube flare nuts, and the new bracket bolt and tighten finger tight at this stage. Tighten in the sequence shown below.NOTE: Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque using the Torque Wrench Adapter Formulas in illustration.
- Tighten the high pressure fuel tube-to-RH fuel rail tube flare nut.
Torque:
Stage 1: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
Stage 2: Tighten an additional 45 degrees or 50 Nm (37 lb-ft), whichever comes first. : 45°
- Tighten the high pressure fuel tube-to-LH fuel rail tube flare nut.
Torque:
Stage 1: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
Stage 2: Tighten an additional 45 degrees or 50 Nm (37 lb-ft), whichever comes first. : 45°
- Tighten the high pressure fuel tube bracket bolt.
Torque:
Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
Stage 2: 45°
- Tighten the high pressure fuel tube-to-RH fuel rail tube flare nut.

- Using new gaskets, install the coolant crossover manifold and coolant inlet tube assembly and bolts.
Torque:
Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
Stage 2: 45°
- Connect the heater hose.
Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Using new gaskets, install the coolant crossover manifold and coolant inlet tube assembly and bolts.

NOTE: Do not use power tools to install the bolt or damage to the upper LH timing chain guide may occur.
Install the upper LH timing chain guide and the bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Install the LH camshafts. Refer to: Camshafts .
- Support the transmission with a wooden block and stand.

- Remove the bolts and the transmission crossmember.
- Install the LH turbocharger. Refer to: Turbocharger LH .
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Single Battery . Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .

- Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.
Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Install the oil pan drain plug.
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
- Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter.

NOTE: Do not lubricate the engine oil filter seal.
Install a new engine oil filter.
Torque:
Stage 1: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
Stage 2: 180°
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .
