Pinpoint Test R: The Door Ajar Warning Indicator Is Never Or Always On

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
See Door Ajar Warning Indicator. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

If the door ajar status message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults all door ajar message center displays off until the IPC receives a valid message indicating a door ajar.

Possible Sources
- Interior lighting concern
- Communication concern
- BCM
- GWM concern
- IPC

R1 CARRY OUT THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the IPC Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Access the IPC and control the DOOR_AJAR PID
- Command door ajar warning indicator on then off while observing the door ajar warning indicator.
Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?

Yes GO to R2

No Install a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

R2 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door?

Yes GO to R3

No REFER to: Interior Lighting .

R3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .

No GO to R4

R4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to: Communications Network .

No GO to R5

R5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes	REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .

No	For a hood ajar indication concern, DIAGNOSE the alarm system does not activate from an unauthorized entry at the hood. REFER to: Perimeter Anti-Theft Alarm . For a door ajar indication concern, Install a new BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) .
