Pinpoint Test O: The BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) / CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) Off Indicator Is Never Or Always On

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See BLIS/ CTA Indicator. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the side obstacle detect status left, side obstacle detect status right, cross traffic alert status left or cross traffic alert status right status message is missing or invalid for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the BLIS/ CTA off RTT indicator to the last state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the side obstacle detect status left, side obstacle detect status right, cross traffic alert status left or cross traffic alert status right status message is missing or invalid for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the BLIS/ CTA off RTT indicator off.

    • Communication concern
    • GWM concern
    • SODL concern
    • SODR concern
    • IPC

  2. O1 CHECK OPERATION OF THE BLIS (BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM) / CTA (CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT)

    • Verify operation of the BLIS/ CTA.

    Does the BLIS/ CTA operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  O2
    No  REFER to Blind Spot Information System .
  3. O2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  O3
  4. O3 PERFORM THE SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) AND SODR (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE RH) SELF-TESTS

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SODL and SODR self-tests.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Blind Spot Information System .
    No  GO to  O4
  5. O4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  Install a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
