Pinpoint Test AK: The Auto High Beam RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Is Never Or Always On

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Auto High Beam RTT. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the auto high beam status display message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the auto high beam RTT to its last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the auto high beam status display message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the high beam RTT off.

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • GWM concern
    • IPMA concern
    • IPC

  2. AK1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors and the hood.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning is active.

      Monitor the door ajar message center warning.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar message center warning.

    Does the driver door ajar message center warning turn off with the driver door closed and turn on with the driver door open? 

    Yes  GO to  AK2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test A 

  3. AK2 CHECK OPERATION OF THE AUTO HIGH BEAMS

    • Verify operation of the auto high beams.

    Do the auto high beams operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  AK3
    No  REFER to: Autolamps .

  4. AK3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  AK4

  5. AK4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  GO to  AK5

  6. AK5 PERFORM THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPMA self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Lane Keeping System .
    No  Install a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
