Pinpoint Test N: The Vacuum-Boost Gauge Is Inoperative (ICM (Information Center Module) Gauge Pack)

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
See Vacuum-Boost Gauge. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

If the ICM does not receive the vacuum/boost display message from the PCM for less than 5 seconds, the ICM defaults the vacuum-boost gauge to the last display state based upon the last message received.

If the ICM does not receive the vacuum/boost display message from the PCM for 5 seconds or longer, the ICM sets DTC U0100:00 and defaults the vacuum-boost gauge to 0.

N1 PERFORM THE ICM (INFORMATION CENTER MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ICM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to DTC Chart: Information Center Module (ICM) .

No GO to N2

N2 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article.

No GO to N3

N3 PERFORM THE VACUUM-BOOST GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the ICM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Select the ICM vacuum-boost gauge (TURBO_GAUGE_ICM) PID.
- Command the vacuum-boost gauge on and off while monitoring the vacuum-boost gauge.
Does the vacuum-boost gauge begin at the needles rest position, sweep to the full stop and return to the rest position?

Yes Refer to PCM Guided Routine .

No INSTALL a new ICM. REFER to: Information Center Module (ICM)
