Pinpoint Test M: The Engine Oil Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative (ICM (Information Center Module) Gauge Pack)

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

If the ICM does not receive the engine oil temperature message from the PCM for less than 5 seconds, the ICM defaults the engine oil temperature gauge to the last display state based upon the last message received.

If the ICM does not receive the engine oil temperature message from the PCM for 5 seconds or longer, the ICM sets DTC U0100:00 and defaults the engine oil temperature gauge to full cold (50° C [metric gauge] or 100° F [English gauge]).

M1 PERFORM THE ICM (INFORMATION CENTER MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ICM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to DTC Chart: Information Center Module (ICM) .

No GO to M2

M2 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article.

No GO to M3

M3 PERFORM THE ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the ICM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Select the ICM engine oil temperature gauge (EOT_GAUGE_PP) PID.
- Command the engine oil temperature gauge on and off while monitoring the engine oil temperature gauge.
Does the engine oil temperature gauge start at 50° C (metric gauge) or 100° F (English gauge), move to 175° C (metric gauge) or 350° F (English gauge) and return to 50° C (metric gauge) or 100° F (English gauge)?

No INSTALL a new ICM. REFER to: Information Center Module (ICM)
