  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Engine - Overview .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM P1060:00 Excessive Engine Component Deterioration: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the service life of the accessory drive belt tensioner has reached it's limit.
    PCM P1061:00 Excessive Engine Component Deterioration - Forced Limited Engine Speed: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the service life of the accessory drive belt tensioner has reached it's limit.

    Possible Sources 

    • Accessory drive belt tensioner

  2. L1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Place the ignition switch in the ON position.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool retrieve and record all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are DTC P1060 or P1061 present? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new accessory drive belt tensioner. REFER to: Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner . Using the diagnostic scan tool, CARRYOUT the PCM-Reset Engine Component Deterioration Data following the scan tool on-screen instructions.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time.
