Pinpoint Test Ab : DTC P1744

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    The PCM monitors the TCC application and when it falls outside of expected performance ranges a DTC sets.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM P1744:00 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Performance: No Sub Type Information P1744 is a non-electrical DTC. This DTC sets with DTC P0741 TCC stuck off) or DTC P2758 (TCC stuck off) and is used to illuminate the wrench light.

    Possible Sources 

    • Transmission may overheat if the TCC is continuously open
    • TCC valve body control valve stuck off or on
    • Seal faults causing loss of pressure
    • TCC mechanical failure

  2. AB1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTC for the PCM.

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the PCM self-test.

    Did DTC P1744 return? 

    Yes  REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
    No  The fault may be intermittent.
