Pinpoint Test Ch: The Forward Collision Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Forward Collision Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Forward collision system concern
    • Communication concern
    • IPMA concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CH1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CH2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CR 
  3. CH2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CH3
  4. CH3 PERFORM THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPMA self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Lane Keeping System
    No  GO to  CH4
  5. CH4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network
    No  DIAGNOSE the collision warning system. REFER to: Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance System
