Pinpoint Test CE: The Electric Vehicle (EV) Engine Off Reminder Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Electric Vehicle (EV) Engine Off Reminder. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Door ajar indication concern
    • BCM concern
    • PCM concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CE1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CE2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CR 
  3. CE2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION

    • Open the driver door.

    • Observe the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    Does the door ajar warning indicator or RTT warning indicator turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    Yes  GO to  CE3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test T 
  4. CE3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CE4
  5. CE4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network
    No  DIAGNOSE all PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
