Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition BCM C113A:11 WAKE-UP Control: Circuit Short To Ground Set by the BCM when a short to ground is detected on the WAKE-UP control output circuit. BCM C113A:15 WAKE-UP Control: Circuit Short To Battery Or Open Set by the BCM when a short to voltage is detected on the WAKE-UP control output circuit. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- PATS transceiver
- BCM
- PCM
- NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- F1 REVIEW THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE SELF-TEST
- Review the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the BCM self-test.
Is DTC C113A:11 present?
Yes GO to F2 No GO to F5 - F2 ISOLATE THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) AS THE CAUSE FOR A SHORT TO GROUND ON THE WAKE-UP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C-connector and E-connector.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC C113A:11 still present?
Yes GO to F3 No GO to F10 - F3 ISOLATE THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) TRANSCEIVER AS THE CAUSE FOR A SHORT TO GROUND ON THE WAKE-UP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PATS Transceiver C252.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC C113A:11 still present?
Yes GO to F4 No INSTALL a new PATS transceiver. REFER to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Transceiver - F4 CHECK THE WAKE-UP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280E.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280E-10 Ground Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280D-16 Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to F11 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - F5 CHECK THE WAKE-UP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Attempt to start the vehicle.
Does the vehicle start?
Yes GO to F7 No GO to F6 - F6 CHECK THE WAKE-UP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PATS Transceiver C252.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F11 No REPAIR the circuit. - F7 ISOLATE THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) AS THE CAUSE FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE ON THE WAKE-UP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM E-Connector
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC C113A:15 still present?
Yes GO to F8 No GO to F10 - F8 CHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) WAKE-UP CONTROL CIRCUIT AS THE CAUSE FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280E.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280E-10 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to F9 - F9 CHECK THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) TRANSCEIVER WAKE-UP CONTROL CIRCUIT AS THE CAUSE FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D.
- Disconnect: PATS Transceiver C252.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280D-16 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to F11 - F10 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all of the PCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals, clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL new PCM, refer to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW 180PS) - I3 (Y1), POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW 240PS) - MI4 or POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.5L Duratec - Hybrid (121kW 164PS) (BG) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - F11 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all of the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals, clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Install a new BCM. REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
