Pinpoint Test F: Transmission Will Not Shift - Gearshift Lever Moves

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
- Transmission external controls
  - Check the adjustment of the gearshift cables. Adjust as necessary. REFER to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment
  - Operate the gearshift lever. Make sure the transmission shift linkage moves with the gearshift lever. If the transmission linkage does not move with the gearshift lever, install a new gearshift lever or gearshift cables as necessary. REFER to: Gearshift Lever REFER to: Gearshift Cables
- Transmission shift levers
  - Check the transmission shift lever and transmission shift selector lever. Make sure both are properly installed. Check that the roll pins are properly installed in both levers. Check for play in the shift levers that could indicate wear in the shift lever bushings.
- Internal shift mechanism
  - Inspect the shift shaft assembly, shift rails, and gear shift interlock for wear, damage, and proper installation. Repair or install new components as necessary.
