Pinpoint Test D: Excessive Vibration Or Noise From Clutch System

- Accessory drive belt
- Clutch and brake pedal pivot shaft not correctly lubricated
- Clutch disc
- Clutch pressure plate
- Clutch release bearing
- Crankshaft end play
- Engine component grounding against frame
- Flywheel
- Flywheel bolts loose
- Imbalanced clutch pressure plate
- Loose or damaged engine or transmission mounts
- Loose or damaged flywheel
- Oil on clutch disc facing
- Worn clutch disc
- Worn pressure plate
- Worn pressure plate springs
- D1 CLUTCH PEDAL RETURN CHECK
- Depress and release the clutch pedal.
- Check the clutch pedal position to determine is the pedal has reached the correct position.
- Gently pull the clutch pedal using one finger to make sure that the pedal has reached the correct position.
Is the clutch pedal sticking either permanently or intermittently?
Yes GO to D2 No No fault. TEST the system for normal operation. - D2 CLUTCH PEDAL OBSTRUCTION CHECK
- Visually check for obstructions around the clutch pedal.
Is there any obstructions around the clutch pedal (such as floor mat, touching pedal arm etc.)?
Yes Fault found. No GO to D3 - D3 BLEED THE CLUTCH SYSTEM
- Bleed the clutch system. REFER to: Clutch System Bleeding .
- Depress and release the clutch pedal.
Does the clutch pedal return to the initial position after bleeding?
Yes Fault found. No GO to D4 - D4 CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER VISUAL CHECK
- Visually inspect the floor for hydraulic fluid and/or damage to the clutch master cylinder pushrod.
Is there any leaks or damage to the clutch master cylinder found?
Yes INSTALL a new clutch master cylinder. REFER to: Clutch Master Cylinder . TEST the system for normal operation. No GO to D5 - D5 CLUTCH LINE AND ADAPTER LEAK CHECK
- Check the clutch lines and connections for leaks.
Is there any signs of leaks?
Yes REPLACE the leaking part. REFER to: Clutch Controls - Component Location . TEST the system for normal operation.
No GO to D6 - D6 CHECK THE CLUTCH DISC AND PRESSURE PLATE
- Check the clutch disc for wear or damage (such as broken damper/spring or damaged spline). Is there any damage to the clutch pressure plate (such as broken component or excessive wear on the pressure plate fingers)
Is the clutch disc and/or pressure plate damaged?
Yes INSTALL a new clutch disc and pressure plate. REFER to: Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate . TEST the system for normal operation. No GO to D7 - D7 CHECK THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER
- Check if there is any damage to the clutch slave cylinder (such as leakage, broken spring or jammed bearing)
Is there any damage or leakage on the clutch slave cylinder?
Yes INSTALL a new clutch slave cylinder. REFER to: Clutch Slave Cylinder . No No fault found. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. REFER to: Clutch System Bleeding . TEST the system for normal operation.
