DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition IPC U023A:00 Lost Communication With Image Processing Module A: No Sub Type Information Sets in continuous memory in the IPC if data messages received from the IPMA through the BCM over the MS-CAN are missing for 5 seconds or longer. Possible Sources
- BH1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to BH2 No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. CLEAR the DTC. - BH2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the IPMA pass the network test?
Yes GO to BH3 No REFER to: Communications Network . - BH3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the IPMA.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Lane Keeping System . No GO to BH4 - BH4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U3006:16 or DTC U3006:17 recorded?
Yes For DTC U3006:16, GO to Pinpoint Test BK For DTC U3006:17, GO to Pinpoint Test BL No GO to BH5 - BH5 RECHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U023A:00 still present?
Yes GO to BH6 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. CLEAR the DTC. - BH6 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all IPMA connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the IPMA connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present
Is the concern still present?
Yes INSTALL a new IPMA (part of the interior rear view mirror). REFER to: Interior Rear View Mirror . CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REPEAT the self-test. If DTC U023A:00 is still present, GO to BH7 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - BH7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to IPC Guided Routine Testing . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
