- NOTE: DTC U3006:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition IPC U3006:17 Control Module Input Power "A" Circuit/Open: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold Sets in continuous memory and on-demand in the IPC if the IPC detects battery voltage above 16 volts when the engine has been running for longer than 1 second. Possible Sources
- Charging system concern
- IPC
- BL1 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE)) U3003:17 OR U3006:17 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the self-test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
Is DTC B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM or U3006:17 set in more than one module?
Yes DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. Refer to the appropriate Battery and Charging System article for the procedure. No GO to BL2 - BL2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
- Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.
Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?
Yes DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. Refer to the appropriate Battery and Charging System article for the procedure. No GO to BL3 - BL3 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3006:17
- Turn the engine off.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Carry out the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U3006:17 present?
Yes Refer to IPC Guided Routine Testing . No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
