Pinpoint Test E : A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - RH (Right-Hand) Front

  1. E1 CHECK THE RH WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C604.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  E2
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  2. E2 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH NORMALLY CLOSED GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

      		 Ground

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  E4
    No  GO to  E3

  3. E3 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504B (if equipped with power rear windows) or C566A (if not equipped with power rear windows).

    • If equipped with power rear windows, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • If not equipped with power rear windows, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new master window control switch.
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.

  4. E4 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW UPWARD AND/OR DOWNWARD OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • To check downward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • To check upward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Does the RH front window move up and/or down? 

    Yes  REMOVE the jumper wires. If the RH front window did not operate from the RH front window control switch, INSTALL a new RH window control switch. If the RH front window did not operate from the master window control switch, INSTALL a new master window control switch.
    No  REMOVE the jumper wires. GO to  E5

  5. E5 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: RH Front Power Window Motor C623.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  MAKE SURE there are no mechanical binding conditions preventing the glass mechanism from operating correctly. If a mechanical binding issue is found, REPAIR as necessary. If no mechanical binding condition exists, INSTALL a new RH front window regulator motor.
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
